Our Vision Statement
To empower individuals to cultivate the psychological skills, insight, and resilience needed to reach their peak potential and thrive in both performance and life - even in the face of challenges.
At CIMA, we believe human potential extends beyond physical talent and ability. The way we think, respond to challenges, regulate emotions, direct our attention, and understand ourselves can influence how we perform and how we experience life.
Our Mission Statement
CIMA Mental Performance & Counseling Services exists to provide evidence‑based mental health and mental performance support that empowers athletes and individuals to develop the psychological skills needed to navigate challenges and continue growing.
CIMA aims to translate psychological science into practical skills that can be applied in day to day life. The goal is to help them better understand themselves, develop skills they can carry with them, and become more capable of responding effectively when challenges arise.
Our Values Statement
-
We believe individuals are capable of continuous growth and development. Our work is guided by a commitment to support people in becoming the most capable version of themselves.
-
Growth requires curiosity, humility, and a willingness to step outside of what is comfortable. CIMA encourages individuals to view challenges as opportunities to learn rather than simply obstacles to overcome.
-
We believe mental performance work should be grounded in psychological science and translated into practical, usable strategies that individuals can apply in the real world.
-
Every athlete and individual brings a unique personality, history, environment, set of strengths, challenges, and goals. Effective support begins with understanding the whole person—not applying a predetermined formula.
-
Adversity, mistakes, pressure, and setbacks are inevitable. Resilience means developing the capacity to respond to these experiences effectively and continue progressing toward growth.
-
Meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves. CIMA emphasizes awareness of thoughts, emotions, attention, behaviors, and patterns that shape both performance and well‑being.
-
CIMA encourages individuals to understand what matters to them and why. We help clients connect their actions to their values so their performance and personal growth are guided by meaningful direction.
-
The ability to think about one’s own thinking is a cornerstone of high‑IQ performance. Athletes who can accurately evaluate their thoughts, decisions, and reactions in the moment are better able to adapt under pressure, make smarter choices, and consistently elevate their performance.
-
Mental performance is rarely developed in isolation. Coaches, parents, teammates, educators, and other support professionals all play meaningful roles in an individual’s growth. CIMA seeks to complement—not replace—the support systems already contributing to an individual’s development.
-
Athletes are people before they are performers. The mental skills developed through performance work extend far beyond sport—supporting growth in academics, relationships, leadership, careers, and everyday life.
